T.R.E.A.T.S. #1 – Song of Myself

The first song I ever wrote, completed a couple of years ago.  I don’t want to get into the habit of posting old stuff on here, but since nobody has heard it, I guess it can be considered new.

      • Griffin, after all this time, you still put an ‘e’ at the end of my name? It wasn’t enough that you would sneak into my house?
I love being in Gainesville. I love being back in Florida. I love not being in the South. I love knowing it will not be overcast for weeks at a time when it gets cold. I love being a five-minute bike ride from $8 shows. I love riding my bike. I am in an excellent education program that will provide me with scary amounts of practical experience…
I have also started “playing” the banjo. If you could call what I do to the poor thing “playing.” But it’s fun and it makes me feel cool when it’s going well.
You are in South Korea, yes? How did that happen?

  2. i don’t make any guarantees about my obscure name-spelling abilities. if there are 2-3 trombones at each nightclub venue in florida, then i’m guessing you’re in paradise. give those gators the official tiger finger when we play them later this season (what’s that? you haven’t heard of the tiger finger? extrapolate.). just give the banjo some patience. all of these things that are sweet and musical and good take time. enjoy your craft. mastery comes later. my guess is 22 years down the road.

i wanted to travel/not start a career/not go to grad school/pretend like my english degree has a purpose. korea’s ok. i’m getting the feeling that it’s the least cool of the asian countries, some insider info that i wasn’t privy to before i departed. they’re overwhelmingly vain. and they love fashion too much. looking forward to checking out thailand at the end of my contract.
